High School With a Different Brain: A Survival Guide for Neurodivergent Teens

About Course

High school is hard for most people, but when your brain works differently, it can feel like everyone else was handed a rulebook you never received. This course is a practical, honest, and genuinely warm guide to surviving and even finding your footing in high school when you are navigating executive function challenges, sensory overload, social complexity, or all of the above at once. You will walk away with real strategies, a clearer sense of your rights, and a much more honest picture of what success actually looks like for a brain like yours.

What Will You Learn?

  • Identify why high school is specifically hard for your neurodivergent brain and stop blaming yourself for finding it difficult
  • Build a personalised system for managing assignments, deadlines, and the academic workload when executive function does not cooperate
  • Navigate the social dynamics of high school in a way that feels authentic to who you are, without having to perform a version of yourself that exhausts you
  • Recognise your sensory triggers in school environments and use practical, low-profile strategies to manage overload before it becomes a crisis
  • Identify the adjustments and support you are entitled to as a neurodivergent student and practise how to ask for them clearly and confidently
  • Build a personal recovery toolkit for hard days so you can keep going without burning out completely
  • Define what success means for you on your own terms, separate from what school says it should look like
  • Understand that your neurodivergent identity is layered and real, and that you do not have to fit neatly into one label to deserve support
