How Neurodivergent Minds Work: A Guide for the People Who Love, Live With, and Work Alongside Them

About Course

This course is for the neurotypical adults who want to do better - partners, parents, friends, colleagues, and family members who sense there is more going on beneath the surface and want to genuinely understand it. You will move past surface-level awareness into real knowledge: how neurodivergent brains are wired, why behaviour looks the way it does, what masking actually costs, and how to offer support that helps rather than harms. Practical, honest, and built entirely on a strengths-based view of neurodivergence as a natural and valid part of human diversity.

What Will You Learn?

  • Explain what neurodivergence actually means and describe how it varies significantly from person to person
  • Identify and confidently challenge common misconceptions about neurodivergent people when you hear them
  • Recognise what is happening during a meltdown or shutdown and respond in a way that genuinely helps
  • Describe how sensory processing differences affect daily life and adjust your environment or expectations accordingly
  • Spot masking behaviour and understand the real energy cost it carries for the person doing it
  • Communicate more clearly and supportively with the neurodivergent people in your life
  • Offer meaningful support without trying to fix, change, or push someone toward neurotypical norms
  • Make practical changes at home or work that reduce friction and build genuine inclusion
